Welcome to Chittenango’s NY Forward Homepage
The Village of Chittenango is one of two communities in the Central New York region to be selected for the third round of the State’s NY Forward program. Chittenango was awarded $4.5 million to help complete transformative and/or catalytic projects in and near downtown. NY Forward funds are also used to provide robust capacity-building and technical assistance directly to communities throughout each phase of the program.
Meeting presentations and summaries are available for review in the “Project Documents” section. At their sixth and final meeting, the Local Planning Committee (LPC) unanimously recommended a slate of projects for NY Forward funding consideration by New York State. The slate includes nine private or non-profit projects, three public projects, and a small project fund. Projects on the slate are requesting $6.4 million in NY Forward funding, within the $6-8 million range required by the State. State agencies will select projects from this list for the Village’s $4.5 million award. Not all projects will be selected for funding. Announcements will be made in the first half of 2026.

This is the third year of New York State’s NY Forward (NYF) program to invigorate and enliven downtowns in New York’s smaller and rural communities. As a complement to the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), NY Forward focuses on creating healthy, vibrant, walkable downtowns that catalyze sustainable economic development and accrue numerous economic, social, and environmental benefits to the locality, the region, and the State as a whole.
